Oh, this interview is rad. Thanks for sharing. It’s really interesting to hear his perspective on how hardcore has made its way into the zeitgeist of pop music. Does Max share music with Taylor Swift? Does Taylor like hardcore?
Similarly, while reading I was hoping Norman would ask if Max was aware of the punk and hardcore Taylor Swift tribute shirts (Crass and Earth Crisis) and what he thought of them.
I was listening to an interview with Brian Baker and he told a story that during R.E.M. monster tour they needed a second guitarist for the tour. So REM asked Brian baker if he wanted to be part of “the touring band” and he thought about it and denied. And it reminded me of an interview I heard many years earlier with Aaron north who at the time was in “the touring band” for nine inch nails. And when asked what it is like to be in NIN he responded something to the effect let being that he didn’t write any of the music he felt like he was in a cover band. I don’t want to sound cynical but besides the money what is the difference artistically between being in a pop star touring band and being in the local Metallica cover band?
I met Keith Huckins a couple months ago. NYC, Dillinger reunion, night 2 with Deadguy. It was unreal!!!
