“I could see a version of Anti-Matter where you never know when the next conversation will drop, and you’ll smile when you see it in your inbox.”

I love this possibility.

Such a fun ride to get to experience again. Thank you for the insight, the musings, the commentary, everything. It matters and always will. Best wishes and hopes to see more in this spirit again.

Thank you Norman! I have enjoyed anti matter and you have continued to expose me to a genre of music that my 19 year old son turned me onto. And I am so grateful for all the amazing rock shows I have seen over the past 3 years and the ones that exist in my future.

Thank you for ALL your creative output throughout the years : music, writing, podcast interviews, merch, etc. It's been a challenge to find new music as I get older, so these past 18 months have been so great. I discovered new music in the print version of Anti-Matter that I still listen to today...and I'm sure these digital introductions will age just as well. Looking forward to whatever comes next. Until then...

As someone who was just a shade too young to have caught your original printed zines but who listened to the compilation a zillion times upon finding the hardcore scene, I want to thank you profusely for your output these past 18 months. It has been a privilege to engage with your work in real time and I’m proud to have been a paid subscriber from the launch. Worth every penny. Excited for what comes next once you’ve rested and recharged!

You should be proud of what you've created here, Norman. So many wonderful conversations and engaging essays. I look forward to the second volume of the anthology book. ;) It'll be a hefty one. Thanks again and I can't wait to see what comes next after a long, well-deserved break.

I'm gonna miss new, thought-provoking stuff to read twice a week, but I'm curious and excited to see what form this might take in the future.

"Because I believe that what I did here is something truly unique: Anti-Matter is now a considerable body of work, composed and compiled by one person, that spans over 30 years and explores the contours of what we call “hardcore” through the stories of its participants from each and every generation of this community’s 50-year history. This is special."

Indeed and we thank you sir. Jai.

I’m going to miss the anti-matter substack and hope that the hiatus is not to long. But I just have a question. If anti-matter was an experiment what kind of experiment would it fall under? A natural experiment or a controlled experiment? An example of a natural experiment would be the end of sugar rationing in Britain in September 1953. Babies born before September 1953 in Britain during sugar rationing were healthier then babies born after September 1953. (Basically sugar rationing wasn’t in-deeded to be an experiment at all put unintentionally became one)
