On the tenth anniversary of Sunbather, the guitarist is grateful to re-experience their classic album in the present tense—free from the afflictions that went into making it.
That bit about how the same chords could come from the Cranberries or Darkthrone reminded me of a YouTube video I saw recently, entitled "Black Metal Without Distortion Is Just Surf Rock." And...it is.
Another fantastic interview! So glad you brought this zine back. Your writing and interview skills are really amazing and I'm always thrilled to get a new anti-matter email!
Question for a possible article. What is a hardcore kid? And what do you think is imprinted on us hardcore listeners/fans that we carry with us? I am asking as I genuinely don't know if I was a hardcore kid, but I was a deep hardcore fan. What of that experience did I carry with me today? It certainly influenced my musical tastes but what else? I'm actually not sure, so I'd love to hear more about that.

The close of this interview was a gut shot. What a beautiful and wise thought to leave with. Great work.
Tell the people you love that you love them, even if it’s scary.
The greatest to ever do it. Thanks for this immense read. Made my day!
Deafheaven rules :-)
