I just want Jason to know, I love his band so fucking much and they have meant so much to me over the past 30 years. Just saw them in Denver a month back and they were so great. Even with the altitudes.
I was there as well. They are always great to see.
Samiam are special to me because each album from Clumsy onwards reminds me of very joyous times. I was introduced to the band by a college roommate, and dear friend that I've lost touch with, who played me Clumsy within the first week of getting to know each other. You Are Freaking Me Out came out when I was a DJ at the radio station at that same college and I played that CD on repeat for months. When Astray came out I finally got to see them live for the first time at this tiny club in Baltimore with all of my closest friends at the time. I can still vividly remember that show.
I could keep going as I have vivid memories of the releases of the next three albums as well, but really I just want Jason to know that he should be extremely proud of what he's done with his band and how they still mean so much to so many people. The last three times I've seen them in Colorado, twice in Fort Collins, and once in Denver, have all been some of my favorite shows since moving out here.
Fuck, I just want to give Jason a hug after reading this. The first time I heard "Underground" it legit took my breath away - it was the first time I could remember music coming out of that particular scene sounding *beautiful.* And I played Soar over and over - shit, I'm playing it right now as I write this. Green Day might have been more polished, and Operation Ivy managed to capture lightning in a bottle, but Samiam has so much more...I dunno, substance?...to me.
Man oh man. You just constantly knock it out of the park with these interviews. How do you just get the artist to pour so much of themselves out there?!?
Thanks for this, this is a great interview. I first saw Samiam open for Green Day on the Dookie tour and was immediately a fan. Caught them live while You Are Freaking Me Out was in Atlantic limbo, and didn’t get to see them again until this spring. I love his band and am so grateful that I got to see them again and enjoy new music from them in 2023 - love the new album and it was a great set.

Thanks for this. Awesome interview. I must've listened to "Sky Flying By" a million times when Soar came out.
Whata a wonderful interview, can't wait to watch them live in a couple of days here in Madrid, SPAIN :)

Samiam forever. Stowaway blew my mind because I couldn't believe they were still making such good music.

It's not always easy! Ha.
