Looking forward to this discussion, i really enjoy Fiddlehead on both a sonic and emotional level. Loss is a part of life and art is a powerful medium to express ones experience while helping others navigate their own.
Beautiful column. Really looking forward to this interview and their new record. My mom died last year at the (young age) of 70 which has been devastating, and I've found Pat's lyrics and Fiddlehead's music comforting this past year.
I think sharing of a name is a very deep connecting thing between families but I think it’s beautiful that you also used it to show your love for your friend. One of my favorite lyrics is from the Avett Brothers “Always remember there was nothing worth sharing like the love that let us share our name.”
after reading this article with was great by the way for some strange reason i started thinking about the last two people my age (late to mid 40s) that grow up in the same scene as I did but I never met be the time this two guys reached middle age they become frantic trump supporters. And they were taking the lessons they learned from punk and twisted them to apply trump. I would hear crazy things like, "Trump is a threat to the establishment...and if this was hiliary this indictments would never happen." am sorry if I have gotten off the topic. But I read this great quote the other day that has become my new mantra;" I prefer not to admire problems. But it’s tempting. Especially when you’re dealing with huge, systemic problems like climate change or racism, it’s very tempting to sit back and stare at all the multi-layered toxicity and give up. I mean, there are a lot of science fiction stories like that, where there’s a bleak, nihilistic vibe and humanity lives in a trashcan. It’s a way of saying there will be no future." Annalee Newitz
Thank you for sharing this story. The way you weave memory and analysis is really lovely

I don't know if it's in the final edit but Pat actually mentions 108 at one point!
